Top 5 things to do with kids in Margaret River

Bush Tucker Tour on the Margaret River

The experienced guides from Bushtucker Tours will meet you at River Mouth and you'll take a leisurely paddle up the river to visit some historic sites and take in the natural beauty. The picnic lunch with thoughtful descriptions of the native indigenous ingredients is a wonderful experience for the soul and the tastebuds! Enjoyable for young and old, it's the Surfers Retreat’s number one thing to do with kids while in Margaret River.

Simmo’s ice cream

After a day at the stunning beaches of the northern Margaret River region, stop in for an ice-cream at Simmos. Be wide-eyed at the incredible selection of delicious ice-creams that you can enjoy in the luscious green setting of the beautiful gardens. The kids will absolutely love the playground and there's plenty of space for the adults to kick back and chill out.

Sunflowers Animal Farm

Just a short drive up caves road from the Surfers Retreat is the Sunflowers Animal Farm. With over 350 animals on display, give your family a few hours to wander and enjoy the scenery. You can hand feed the animals and watch them play and the setting is very relaxed and natural. There is a fantastic playground if the little ones have any energy left.

Margaret River Skate Park

If you've got a skater in the family, you MUST pack the skateboard. Margaret River has a WORLD CLASS skate park. Designed and built by the globally famous team from Convic, the 6,100 sq m park has been designed as a unique youth and action sports experience.

The facility actually caters for a range of action sports including skateboarding, parkour and climbing/bouldering and a first of its kind 250m long pump track which encircles the sports area. The skate area comprises a 3.1m deep international standard competition level bowl which is connected to the existing park area and a transition based street area, incorporating a feature rock skate element.

There is even a nature play and a ropes course as well as picnic and BBQ facilities.

On Walcliffe road on the right as you drive into town. Just after the Council building. You can't miss it.

Possum spotting at the Surfers Retreat!

Set on 3 acres of bush, your back yard is the best place to spot some native wild life. Take the little ones out after dark and you'll most likely spot a possum! There is one possum that usually lives in the tree above the the old wood shed, but a wander around the bush will be sure to be an adventure.

You'll often see kangaroos around the garden trying to eat our vegetables, but you can also walk down to the golf course through the fire trails and you will see loads of kangaroos lying around eating the beautifully manicured grass of the golf club!
